even though と even if の使い分けは ? - 7/28 （火)

去年10月29日分を再送いたします。

 

朝30分の小さい習慣の実践が人生の奇跡を起こします。

                         Yes, You  Can!

 

Even though he hates studying and skips virtually

every lecture, he is unwilling to quit school, simply

because he prefers school to work.

 

彼は勉強が大嫌いで講義をほとんど欠席しているに

も関わらず、学校をやめようとはしない。単に仕事よりは

学校の方がいいというそれだけのことである。

( ほとんど(virtually)すべての 講義に欠席している？)

 

ここで even though .... は 。。。にも関わらず の 意味で

譲歩文を 作ります.

even if....は たとえ。。。でも の　意味で

仮定文を 作ります.

 

解析上 似ているが,

Even though は ( 事実 )を 述べている ことで,

Even if は　あくまでも ( If = 仮定 )を 述べている

と　いう点で　違います。

 

日本語で, 。。。にも 関わらず と 述べたい時は

Even thoughを　使ってみてください。 ( Even if ...)ではなく.

 

例えば,

a. Even though he hates studying、 ( 彼が勉強が大嫌い(事実)にも関わらず、 )

b. Even if he hates studying、  ( たとえ 彼が 勉強が 大嫌いかもしれないが(仮定)  )
