Good morning all,

 

It is such a beautiful and clouldless blue skies this

morning here in Tokyo. Morning lows of 3.9 degrees

and day time highs of 12 degrees.

Today is December 1st Monday. Let start this week

with vigor. 

Here is today's english!

He proclaimed, " Terrorism is a great threat to world

peace. it is time that the international community cooperated

in eliminating it once and for all."

 

彼は宣言した。「テロは世界平和を脅かす大きな脅威です。

今こそ国際社会が一致協力し、これを限りにテロを取り除く

べきなのです」

( 先週 Indiaで 発生した 国際テロ! )

 

Words,Phrases & Patterns

> proclaim ; ...だと 宣言する.

> terrorism ; テロ行為, terrorist テロリスト
> eliminate ; ..を取り除く, 除去する

> once and for all ; これを最後に

> cooperate ; 協力する
 

ここで it is time that .....動詞（過去形） は 時を 表す it

の 慣用表現の 一つで, [ 今は ....しなければ ならない時である ]

の意味です. 時を 表す it の 慣用表現の一つなので、 このまま 

使ってください。 thatは よく 省略されます。 動詞が 過去形

になる理由は現在 そうすべきなのに, そうではないことを表すために、

仮定法を使うからです。会話では 現在形を使うこともあります。

 

It is time for.... to 動詞

it is time that S V (過去形) 

 

日本語で;

今は ...する (しなければ ならない) 時である  を 表したい 時は 

この 表現を 使ってみてください。

 

例えば;

(a) It is time for me to start studing English

(いまは 私が 英語勉強を 始まる 時だ)

(b) It is time (that) you start(started) thinkg about settling down

(君もそろそろ 身を固めることを 考え始めた方がいい)

(c) It is high time that you learned to tell right from wrong

(今は 正しいことと 間違ったことを 区別ができるようにならないとね )
