Good morning all,

 

We are having a heavy rain with strong wind this morning

here in Tokyo. Weather is not so cold with the temperature

of 13 degree this morning but the heavy rain and wind

make me feel colder than the actual weather temperature.

Here is today's english!

活発な老人は言った。「来たい人は誰でも歓迎だ」できるだけ

たくさん友達を連れておいで。多ければ多いほど楽しい

からね」

( 良い 友達は 多ければ多いほど 良いでしょね! )

 

Words,Phrases & Patterns

> vigorous ; 健康で活発な

> do 動詞 ; (動詞を 強調して) ぜひとも
> as many 複数名詞 as.. ; ...と同じでけの数...

> pal ; (口語的) 友達

> merry ; 楽しい
 

ここで the more, the merrier は [ the 比較級, the 比較級 ]

表現で[ より...すれば するほど, より ....する ] との 意味で

よく使われる 慣用表現です。 

 

以下の 例文は 会話でも よく 使います!

 

日本語で;

より...すれば するほど, より ...する  を　表したい 時は 

この 表現を 使ってみてください.

 

例えば;

(a) The more, the better( 多ければ 多いほど, より 良い)

(b) The sooner, the better

(c) The more, the merrier
