income and consumption tax.

ここで Besides the mortgage の besides は ..以外にも, の 意味の
前置詞 です。 besidesは 副詞としても よく 使いますが,
この場合は" 更に、それに加えて" の 意味です.
参考で, beside は ....隣に の 意味の 前置詞なので、注意が
必要です。
日本語で " ....以外にも ", " 更に", "...隣に "と 言いたい時は
以下のように 区別して 使ってください。
besides (前置詞) ; besides + 名詞 ; ....以外にも
besides (副詞) ; besides ( 単独) ; 更に
beside (前置詞) ; beside + 名詞 ; ....隣に
たとえば;
a. Besides a mother he has a sister to support
b. It is too late ; besides, I am tired
c. I don't really want to go, besides, it is too late now
d. He sat beside me all day
