Can you believe it? it is 19.5 degrees this morning
here in Tokyo. it is fine weather but from yesterday
the strong but very warm winds has been making

ここで if I were you, I would は 文法的に 仮定法 過去 の 表現です。
仮定法 過去とは, 現在 実現可能性が ほとんど ないこと, 現在の 事実は
異なる事を 空想/想像して, もしも ....ならば、。。。だろう と仮定することです。
仮定法を 理解するのに, 一番 重要なことは 今/現在 実現可能性が ない,
実現難しい ことを 表すために if 節で 動詞を 現在より 一つ 以前の
動詞 時制で 表現することです。 ですから、現在を仮定する時は, 動詞を
過去形に, 過去を仮定する時は 動詞を 過去完了形にします。
現在のことを 仮定する時は ; if 動詞の過去形, would.....
過去のことを仮定する時は ; if 動詞 過去完了形, would have Vp.p....
現在のことを そのまま 現在動詞で 話す, 過去をことを そのまま 過去形で
表現することを 直説法と いいます.
If it is necessary, は 直説法であり、仮定法ではないです
日本語で;
もしも...ならば....だろう....と 言いたい 時は, 現在の事を仮定する時は、
仮定過去 を 使ってみて ください。
例えば;
直説法
(a) If it is necessary, I can come at once
(b) If you have any trouble, give me a call
仮定法
(a) If you won 300 million yen in the lottery, would you still work?
(b) If you were older, you could understand
