今日の英語

今日は ' It is + 形容詞 + that ...should ... ' を勉強しましょう.

形容詞には いろいろありますが, 今日は特に ' 必要性, 重要性, 望ましい' を

意味する 次の形容詞と使う場合の文章を勉強しましょう. このような形容詞後の

that節には '...当然 ..する必要がある'の意味になり 'should + 動詞原形'

が来ることが特徴です. should を省略して動詞原形だけ使うこともあります!

 

It is necessary that ...(should) + 動詞原形 : (当然必要な)

It is essential that.....(should) + 動詞原形 :  (必要不可欠)

It is urgent that.....(should) + 動詞原形 : (とても必要な)

It is important that.....(should) + 動詞原形 : (重要な)

It is vital that.......(should) + 動詞原形 : (必ず必要な)

It is desirable that.....(should) + 動詞原形 : (望ましい)

 

次の例文を通じて理解してみてください.

 

Bureaucrats argued that it was desirable if not

essential that the proposition be examined in minute

detail before they proceeded any further.

 

官僚達は, 仕事を進める前に, まず 提案内容を細かく

検討することが, 必要不可欠とは言わないまでも,

望ましいと主張した。

説明> このような形容詞と使う it.....that 文章の特徴は that 節中で

....当然 そうすることが必要だ, 望ましいだの 意味を表す

'should + 動詞原形' が来ることです, shouldを省略して,

動詞原形が来る場合もあります.
