説明> If 節の中に ' were to....' を用いて, 後ろでは would [could, might]で表現すると, ' 未来のことを仮定して話してみる表現になります. まだ, 実現していないことを仮定して話していることを明確にするために、動詞を過去にして用います ' S were to..., S  would.... '  

 

If S were to ..., S would[could, might] ....

 

例文；

If you were to give her a bunch of roses, she would be pleased.

 

If he were[was] to fail again, his boss might fire him.

 

If I were to die tomorrow, what would my children do?

 

参考; were 代わりに was も使用. 主語が 1人称単数、 3人称 単数の場合, were 代わりに was を使用.
