1. than が 関係代名詞意思として使うって?
関係代名詞 which が more と 一緒に使う場合は than に代わります.
(a) You did more work.
(b) I had expected it.
-> You did more work than I had expected. ( more と一緒に使う時は which 代わりに than を使う)
(a) We have more apples.
(b) We could eat in a day.
-> We have more apples than we could eat in a day. ( more と一緒に使う時は which代わりに than )
(a) You have more clothes.
(b) It is necessary.
-> You have more clothes than is necessary. ( which 代わりに than )
説明> この場合の than は目的語、主語として 使う than は 関係代名詞です.
He offered more than could be expected. ( which 代わりに than )
Don't use more words than are necessary. ( which 代わりに than )
= Don't use more words than those which are necessary.
