spend/waste は 現在分詞と一緒に使います. その外分詞を使う重要な表現は;

There is/are + 名詞 + 現在/過去分詞 ; be busy ....ing ; have touble ...ing ' .

1. 次の表現は分詞を使う重要な表現です.

 

1) 何かの存在を表す ' There is[are] + 名詞' 後ろに分詞を用います.

説明> やってくる車１台がある、二人がいる外でまっている状態で。.

' There + be動詞 + 名詞 + 現在分詞' , 'There + be動詞 + 名詞 + 過去分詞' で表現.

 

There was no time left to explain the situation.

There was little milk left in the bottle.

 

2) 次の表現も分詞を使う重要な表現です.

 

be busy ...ing  ; ...で忙しい

spend + 時間, お金 + ing  ; ....するのに 時間, お金を使う

have trouble ..ing  ; ...するのに苦労する.

 

We are very busy preparing for the party.

James is busy practicing for the school concert.

 

I spent a lot of time watching TV last night.

The company has spent thousands of pounds updating their computer systems.

I spent too much time watching TV.

1. be busy ..ing, '..と spend + ...ingは 前置詞 inを使って, 動名詞としても使う.
