so let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled.
In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by
dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was
advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution
was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:
" Let it be told to the future world...that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue
could survive....that the city and the country, alarmed at one comman danger, came forth to meet it"
America. In the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember
these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure
what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we
refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back not did we falter; and with eyes fixed
on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered
it safely to future generations.

アメリカ建国の年, 最も寒かった時, 少数の愛国者達が 氷で 覆われた川岸で消えていく
黍の火のそばでうずくまっていた. 首都(首都)は 見捨ててられ, 敵は進軍し, 雪は 血で
染まっていて、我々の独立革命が 本当に 実現するか不確かな時, 我々建国の父たちは
人々に次の言葉をきちんと伝えるよう言いました。
" 寒い冬の真ん中で, その時 唯一 希望と美徳で 生き残ることができた。共通の脅威の恐れに
囲まれた都市と地方は 前に進み立ち向かったと, 未来の世界によって言われるようにしましょう."

アメリカ. 共通の危険に直面し、冬のように冷たい困難な今, 我々、この永遠な言葉を記憶しま
よう。希望と美徳をもって,氷のような冷たい流れにもう一度勇敢に立ち向かおう。
どんな嵐が来るようとも耐えよう。そして後の世代で、我々は試練の時に旅を終わらせること
を拒み,後戻りすることもたじろぐこともしなかったと；むしろ、あの地平線と神様が我々に下さった
