with the morning lows of 2.6 degrees. During the daytime, it will be about
10 degress which are same as yesterday.

Seq 58 ( unit 4 ) : lesson 7 (普通名詞の 複数形 作り方 - 詳細に)
1. He is a good student.
2. They are good students.
3. He is a good child.

Words,Phrases & Patterns
> student ; (名詞)[C] 学生. 単数なら a student, 複数なら students.
> children ; (名詞)[C] child(子供)の 複数形
> wear glasses ; メガネをかける
> take...off ; ....を脱ぐ
今日は 普通名詞の 複数形作り方について 勉強しましょう！.
1. 複数形 作り方には 四つの 規則変化 と 不規則変化があります。
規則変化 四つは ( -s, -es, -ies, -ves )を つけること。
1.1 [語尾に -sを 付ける 場合] 一番 一般的な 方法
a. book -> books
b. tree -> trees
c. desk -> desks
d. leg -> legs
(注意; -sは bookように p,t,k,fなどの 無声音の後では [s] と発音しますが, legように
b,d,g,vなど有声音に後では [z]と 発音します。
1.2 [語尾に -esを 付ける 場合]
s,ss,sh,ch,o,x,zで 終わる名詞には - esを 付ける.
a. bench -> benches
b. bus -> buses
c. box -> boxes
d. dish(器) -> dishes
e. potato -> potatoes
f. class -> classes
(注意; ス,ズ,シ,チ などの音の後では [iz]と 発音します)
(注意; radio, photo, pianoなどは例外で、 -oで 終わるが -esではなく, -sを つける,
理由は raido(telegraphy), photo(graph),piano(forte)の 略だからです.
a. radio -> radios
b. photo -> photos
c. piano -> pianos
1.3 [語尾に -iesを 付ける場合]
子音+yで 終わるものは y を i に変えて -iesを 付ける.
a. city -> cities
b. baby -> babies
c. lady -> ladies
d. country -> countries
(注意; 母音 + y で 終わるものは そのまま -s を 付ける)
a. boy -> boys
1.4 [語尾に -vesを 付ける場合 ]
f, feで 終わる 単語は f,fe を v に変えて -vesを 付ける.
a. knife -> knives
b. leaf -> leaves
c. wife -> wives
(注意; 次の単語は例外で f で 終わるが そのまま -s を付ける)
a. roof(屋根) -> roofs
b. beef(牛肉) -> beefs
(注意; handkerchief(ハンカチ) は -ves でも -s でもよい)
handkerchief -> handkerchieves
hadnkerchief -> handkerchiefs
1.5 不規則変化
a. child -> children
b. ox(雄牛) -> oxen
c. tooth -> teeth
d. foot -> feet
e. woman -> women
f. man -> men
g. mouse(ネズミ) -> mice
1.6 単数でも,複数でも 同じ単語
a. sheep(洋) -> sheep
b. Japanese(日本人) -> Japanese(日本人達)
c. deer(鹿) -> deer
d. carp(鯉) -> carp
2. 常に複数形の名詞
対になっているもの（2つで1組のもの）は、常に複数形にして使う、一方 一つの,
二つのと数える時は a pair of.... を使って、[ a pair of...., two pairs of .... ] で 数える.
a. pant(ゾボン) -> pants : (a pair of pants, two pairs of pants)
b. glass(めがね) -> glasses : (a pair of glasses, two pair of glasses)
c. sock(靴下) -> socks : (a pair of socks, two pairs of socks)
d. chopstics(箸) -> chopstics : (a pair of chopstics, two pairs of chopstics)
e. scissor(ハサミ) -> scissors : (a pair of scissors, two pairs of scissors)
f. shoe(靴) -> shoes : (a pair of shoes, two pairs of shoes)
g. glove(手袋) -> gloves : (a pair of gloves, two pairs of gloves)
3. 複数形で 意味の変わる名詞
a. good(善) -> goods(商品)
b. arm(腕) -> arms(武器)
c. letter(手紙) -> letters(文学)
d. pain(苦痛) -> pains(努力)
e. air(空気) -> airs(気どり）
f. custom(慣習) -> customs(税関)
日本語で; "箸 一つ ください." と 言いたい時は, 箸が 対になって いる名詞の事を考えて、まず chopstics と 複数形にして, 箸 一つだから、a pair of...を使い a pair of chopstics にします。
例えば;
(a) A pair of chopstics, please? ( 箸 一つ ください?)
(b) Will you peel the potapoes for me (そのじゃがいも皮をむいてくれる?)
